Practice Matters – an interdisciplinary team of Visual Sociology PhD researchers at Goldsmiths – developed and hosted a zine-making workshop in collaboration with Emma Yapp, one of the artists in residency at the Feminist Library in Peckham.
Practice Matters had been running a weekly reading group, and reading parts from Prof. Lisa Blackman’s new edition of ‘The Body: Key Concepts’. Building on this, they developed feminist/queer Visual Sociology workshop, where they introduced ideas and methods use in their own projects (such as Floriane’s approach to mood boards), and then use some content from Lisa’s book (eg. headings and subheadings) to prompt sociological zine-making.
13 participants, from in and outside Goldsmiths, each made their own zine in response to prompts the group shared about Prof. Blackman’s book.
The Feminist Library accepted their proposal for a zine-making workshop to coincide with Pride month in June.
